Winners Announced in Temple City's First Photo Contest
Competition drew more than 150 submissions from 49 local photographers
TEMPLE CITY, CA (Nov. 14, 2019)—Picture this: The winners of the City of Temple City’s inaugural photo contest have been announced.
Open to entrants ages 6 or older, the contest was established to showcase what residents think and feel embodies the spirit of Temple City.
More than 150 photos were submitted by 49 local photographers, capturing the diversity of the city’s people, landscapes and events.
Each was judged on its representation of Temple City, composition, creativity, technical quality and overall impression. The following individuals received awards:
Age Division: 6-12
1st Place: “Exercise,” Kate Wang
2nd Place: “Red Hour,” Alan Liao
3rd Place: “Flower,” Kely Wang
Honorable Mention: “Reading Books,” Kate Wang
Age Division: 13-17
1st Place: “Super Woman,” Tania Ng
2nd Place: “Rose Donut,” Gloria Huang
3rd Place: “TCHS Class of 2019,” Madison Hoiby
Honorable Mention: “Cross Country Victory,” Madison Hoiby
Honorable Mention: “Half and Half,” Sydney Liao
Age Division: 18+
1st Place: “Teapot,” Yan-Hua Huang
2nd Place: “Silky, Beautiful Waterfall,” Bhag Chand Jain
3rd Place: “Flyover,” Kenny Chu
Honorable Mention: “Christmas at First Baptist Church,” Ken Stoker
Honorable Mention: “Sunset at Live Oak Park,” Austin Yeh
The winning photos and photographers will be recognized at the Nov. 19 meeting of the city council. The photos will be used to supplement the City’s communications collateral, social media platforms and video series.
