Economic Relief Grants
Interest forms are now being accepted for our economic relief grant program, intended to provide 30 small businesses with up to $10,000 and 71 households with $3,000 in rental assistance. The grants, which do not have to be paid back, are available to those who meet federal income guidelines and can demonstrate negative impacts by COVID-19.
Interest forms for small-business grants must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, while forms for rental assistance will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. All approved requests will be disbursed by the end of July.
Temple City small businesses with 25 employees or fewer that have faced negative impacts due to COVID-19—such as having to reduce employees’ hours or shut down entirely—are eligible for grants worth up to $10,000. The grants can be used to cover operating expenses including rent, payroll and utilities, as well as COVID-19-related costs involving equipment and supplies.
Priority will be given to restaurants and other food establishments, followed by general merchandise businesses and those geared toward all other commercial and industrial uses. Priority will also be given to businesses that have not received other government grants, such as the Payroll Protection Program. To be eligible, business owners or an employee must have a . The funds will be disbursed in installments of up to $1,000 over a three-month period to the landlord or property management company. Each applicant must have a current and valid lease agreement signed by the landlord, and show proof of lost income due to COVID-19.
