Annual event on Dec. 8 to feature parade, snow and a visit from Santa.
TEMPLE CITY, CA (Nov. 16, 2017)—Getting the holiday season underway, Lights on Temple City is coming to town Friday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr.
The annual family event will feature a whopping 40 tons of snow, complete with sled runs and two play areas for the kids.
As always, Santa Claus will be on hand to pose for photos and spend time with the children. Youngsters will also be able to take home holiday crafts and even have Santa’s elves make their favorite balloon animals.
A holiday parade will begin at 7 p.m. and proceed along Las Tunas Drive. Santa will make a splashy entrance into Temple City Park, followed by a lighting of the park’s 100-foot redwood tree.
Lights on Temple City is something many throughout the community look forward to each year, according to parks and recreation director Cathy Burroughs. “This event is just a lot of fun,” she said. “It’s designed to get everyone in the holiday mood.”
Live entertainment will be provided by the Temple City High School Brighter Side Singers and Temple City High School Marching Band. Holiday food treats will be available for purchase.
Please note Las Tunas Drive will be closed to traffic between Cloverly and Golden West Avenues from 5 to 8 p.m. to accommodate the parade, and parking along that stretch will be prohibited between 4 and 8 p.m.
