Holiday Showdown Puts Residents in the Judges' Seats
Temple City's annual home decoration contest is back—with an exciting twist.
TEMPLE CITY, CA (Dec. 7, 2017)—Who has the brightest home on the block? It’s up to you to decide! Temple City’s annual holiday home decoration contest is back, and this year’s winners will be chosen by a new panel of judges: the community.
If you’ve given your home the Rockefeller Center treatment or you know someone whose passion for festive décor can’t be topped, submit a nomination no later than Friday, Dec. 15. The contest closes at 5 p.m. and is limited to 50 entries, so act quickly to secure your spot in the lineup.
All you need to do is email a photo of the home you’d like to nominate to email@example.com. Please be sure to include the property address and that the photo size doesn’t exceed 5 MB.
Community members will be able to vote for their three favorite entries at templecity.us/holidayhome on Dec. 19 and 20.
The top three winners will be announced Dec. 21 on the city’s website and social media platforms. Winners will receive light-up yard signs advertising their People’s Choice achievement from Mayor Cynthia Sternquist, who also will designate a separate winner of her own Mayor’s Choice award.
“This year’s home decoration contest puts a very special spin on a favorite holiday tradition in Temple City,” Sternquist said. “Instead of the usual process of local officials serving as judges, we’re putting power in the hands of residents to determine this year’s winners. We hope the community enjoys the opportunity to weigh in—and that the new format stirs up a little healthy competition among neighbors.”
