Although the City contracts with Los Angeles County for Building and Safety services, the Building program is based in City Hall. The City's Building/Housing Assistant receives plans for building plan check and issues building permits between 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and simple permits are issued from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Friday. If you are traveling a long distance to obtain building permits, it is recommended that you call to ensure that someone is available to issue permits. The City's Building Inspector has counter hours at City Hall between 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Building inspections are conducted between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Window Replacement: window replacement requires Planning Department approval prior to issuance of building permits. The Planning Department reviews proposed windows to ensure they compliment the building style and are compatible with any windows that are remaining. Please note that "flat grids" are not permitted.

• Swimming Pool Permit – required for any body of water placed in the ground that is more than 18” in depth

• Grading Permit – required if removing and/or adding 50 cubic yards of soil
