Building & Safety

Building & Safety reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts inspections for all types of construction, including encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way.
 
Prior to submitting plans online for Building plan review, your project must be approved by the Planning Division and you must have a plan check application filed and paid to Building Division to be able to submit your project plans via the online portal.

Building Review Process

1. SUBMIT FOR PLAN CHECK

Structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, grading plans. Pay fee.

2. PLAN REVIEW

Review in two weeks or less. * 

Comments/corrections provied.

3. PLAN REVISIONS

Applicant makes revisions to plans.

4. 2ND ROUND REVIEW

2nd round of review. Comments provided if necessary. 

5. ADDITIONAL REVIEW

Additional rounds of review if necessary. **

6. PLAN CHECK APPROVAL

Approval is good for 1 year from submittal. May be extended.

7. PERMIT ISSUED

Valid for six months from issuance. May be extended. 

8. CONSTRUCTION


Inspections at various stages of construction.

*Average review is two weeks.

**More than 2 resubmittals will require additional review fees.
