Vacant Property Registration

In 2011, the City Council adopted Ordinance 11-949 to establish a registration program for abandoned and vacant properties. The purpose of this program is four-fold:

  1. To prevent residential neighborhoods and commercial areas from becoming blighted;
  2. To ensure adequate maintenance and/or security of commercial and residential properties;
  3. To protect citizens from health and safety hazards; and
  4. To promote the economic stability of the City by maintaining property values.
The Municipal Code requires properties that are legally vacant or abandoned to be registered annually. Vacant properties must be registered by the property owner or trustee within 10 days of the property being determined vacant.

 To be in compliance, registering individuals or organizations must:

  1. Complete a registration form;
  2. Pay a mandatory fee of $147 ($35 registration fee and $112 inspection fee) via check or money order payable to City of Temple City; and
  3. Mail or deliver completed form and registration fee to:
