Trash Collection
The City has a franchise agreement with Athens Services to provide trash and recycling service for all commercial customers in Temple City.
To start or stop trash service, or for questions about your trash bill, please contact Athens directly at (888) 336-6100. Additional information about Athens services is available
on the Athens web site or by calling Athens.
Some businesses along Las Tunas Drive use shared trash containers in locked enclosures. Keys to access the enclosures are available at City Hall when proof of an Athens trash service account is provided.
Trash collection service is not provided on the following holidays, and is delayed to the following day: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Recycling
Recyclable items do not need to be sorted or separated from trash. All trash that Athens collects is taken to the Athens Material Recovery Facility where it is sorted. Recyclable items including aluminum, glass, plastic, and paper are separated from the trash for recycling.
Mandatory Commercial Recycling
Pursuant to AB 341, all businesses generating four cubic yards or more of solid waste per week are required to arrange for recycling services. Trash service from Athens will satisfy this requirement. Please visit the
CalRecycle web site for more information.
