Get ready for lots of color and lots of fun as Temple City hosts its first-ever 5K Color Fun Run on Saturday, May 20.
The 5K run kicks off at 8:30 a.m., followed by a half-mile kids run at 9:30 a.m. at Live Oak Park, 10144 Bogue St.
“A color fun run is where one runs, walks or dances their way through stations where they get blasted with different colors,” said Cathy Burroughs, parks and recreation director. “We can’t wait to see all the runners covered from head to toe in beautiful hues and patterns.”
Afterward, participants at the finish line will encounter a sports festival complete with food trucks, athletic clinics, fitness demonstrations, and health and wellness booths.
“Because this event is marketed as a ‘fun run,’ runners and walkers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate,” said Burroughs. “Our color run is about having a good time with your family and neighbors in a unique and healthy environment.”
The cost to register per adult runner is $30 in advance and $35 the day of the event. The cost per child under 12 is $15. All fees include an event T-shirt, race bib and color pack.
Register online or return a completed registration form to Live Oak Park Community Center between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Please note the colored powder used during the run is made in the USA from food-grade-quality cornstarch. It is nontoxic, 100-percent safe and biodegradable. It also washes out easily from skin, hair and most fabrics. For specifics, download our tip sheet.
